July 4th treat

Last July I made a yummy treat that I plan to make for my whole fam while up in Nashville this weekend!  I thought I'd share the recipe and picture.....I think John and I could eat this entire thing in one sitting.....=)

Fanciful Fruit Pizza"

-1 rolle sugar cookie dough
-8 oz cream cheese softened
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla

 strawberries, blueberries, raspberries

Heat oven to 350.  Grease pizza pan.  Press cookie dough evenly on pan to make crust.  Bake 16-20 min or until golden brown.  Cool 30 min.   In bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. (with mixer)  Spread over cooled crust.  Arrange fruit over sweetend cream cheese mixture!  Tastes kinda like cheese cake!  Chill in fridge for at least 1 hr. Cut into wedges or squares!  Happy 4th of July!

Lord of All

So, with it being the summer, I have had a lot of "me" time and Jesus time. I didn't realize how much of this time becomes "grading paper" time during the school year. The Lord has really renewed my spirit this summer as I have spent a lot more time in His Word, and have had a lot of time to myself to reflect. I have realized how important it is to make this time top priority no matter how many other things I feel like I need to accomplish in the day. I have come across a song that one of my buds from high school and college, Kristian Stanfill, has recorded recently. The song talks about how "there is none so high and holy", "You are adored, you are the Lord of all". I think it is easy to make ourselves, or our activities and jobs Lord in our lives instead of making Him truly the Lord of all in our lives. We forget how big and powerful God is sometimes. Even when we don't proclaim His glory, the heavens and nature declare His glory. If we really believe He is Lord of all, the worries of life would be non-existent and the problems would seem much smaller. It's a great challenge to think about each day-are we claiming that He is Lord of all? So, enjoy Kristian's video below.

The Jillian Challenge

Well, we've given ourselves a challenge for the summer. On top of training for some triathlons this summer, we thought we'd throw our bodies for a loop and try Jillian's 30 day shred. We've completed the first week, and let's just say....it hasn't gotten easier yet! We have high hopes to start P90X, but we've got to conquer Jillian first. It is a sight to see John talking back to Jillian as she kicks our booties for this strength training workout. We'll see what happens in the first 30 days of this. If John shreds 20 lbs I'll be a little worried, but it wouldn't hurt for me to!=) We've heard some really good things about this workout, and I really would recommend it to anyone wanting to do something quick every day or every other day! Only 20 minutes...but she doesn't let you slack for one second of those 20 minutes! I just wish Bob from Biggest Loser had a quick workout video like she does. Jillian scares me! =)

It's been a while...

Well, now that I have a little more time in the summer, I'll update our blog a little more often!  School's out for the summer, and I can't wait to be a "stay at home wife" for a couple of months!  We've been busy the past couple of months as we completed the Nashville Half Marathon together!  John was an old timer, but this was my first.  The good news....I'm still alive!  Then, a couple of weeks later, John completed the Half Iron Man in Panama City Beach, FL.  Let's just say I was a total basket case for the days leading up to the race, but he raced a smart, consistent, and strong race!  Way to go, Babe!  Then, school let out, and now I have a crazy amount of free time that I don't know what to do with.  First: organize the house  Then, I may take up some new hobbies.  HA!  I will be packing up our house toward the end of the summer as we prepare to move into our new house!  We're building in the Hampton Cove/Taylor Rd. area of Huntsville, and we couldn't be more excited!  This will be our first home to own!  We'll miss this house and our sweet neighbors, but we're excited to finally have our own house!  We'll be taking some time out of the summer to visit with my family too!  We always love when all of the sisters and their husbands meet up in Nashville at my parent's house.  Few and far between are the times where we can ALL be together, so we cherish those times!  Well, off to let Jillian from the Biggest Loser kick my tail.....I'm telling you...she means business.  Adios!
